Arisaema candidissimum W.W.Sm. was discovered in north-west Yunnan by the famous Scottish botanist and explorer George Forrest in 1914. It is a beautiful temperate aroid with white, flushed with pale pink spathe although occasionally forms with more intense stripes, fully white or green and white forms are encountered. It is very popular in gardens for it is not particularly demanding species. It is found in the wild growing on dry rocky stony slopes in Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet. It belongs to Arisaema section Franchetiana together with A. lichiangense, A. fargesii and A. franchetianum which all produce a solitary 3-foliolate leaf.
