About the garden
The botanical garden has a rich aroid history, with a current collection of 855 living accessions of aroids in 71 genera, Geneviève Ferry, horticulturalist par excellence and frequent field assistant of Tom Croat, worked in this garden until her retirement. Board member Douglas Tavares now cares for the living collections. The garden was the host of the 10th Aroid Conference in 2009 and its living collections helped describe several species new to science, such as Anthurium barrieri and Philodendron pierrelianum.
